Our Medical Team
Dr. Elizabeth Edwards
I decided to be a family doctor at the age of 5. It was most certainly my first (and perhaps my only) perfect decision. 18 years later, I started medicine at Queen’s – though I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan (the happy, but unexpected, result of having met my future husband, a kid from the Prairies).
Since then, in just over twenty very full, very rewarding years, I have had the privilege and the pleasure of serving in private General Practice in Ottawa - colleagues I trust and enjoy, staff that make everything easy, and patients that share with me, every day, their lives and lessons.
Dr. Claudia Hubbes
Dr. Claudia Hubbes graduated with a MD from McMaster University and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
After working as locum for a number of Family Physicians in the Ottawa area, she joined the staff at Carlington Community Health Centre where she practiced family medicine for over 10 years. She left Carlington to start the Rosemount FHO in November of 2009.
Dr. Hubbes is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, where she lectures as well as teaches students in the office setting. Dr. Hubbes is also a Community Preceptor for the Department of Family Medicine, involved in the training of residents and future family Physicians.
She is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Family Physicians and a Peer Reviewer for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Dr. Hubbes is fluent in English, French and Swiss-German.
Dr. Alison Trant
Dr. Alison Trant received degrees in Biology (1983) and Medicine (1987) from the University of Ottawa. Residency at the Family Medicine Centre Ottawa Civic Hospital followed from 1987-1989.
For the first 10 years of her practice Dr. Trant was privileged to provide obstetrical care to many patients and their babies at the Grace Hospital. Currently she is excited to be able to offer enhanced comprehensive care for families as a part of the Rosemount Family Health Organization.
Dr. Andrew Horne
Medicine as a career was a decision I made a bit later in life. I started in Kinesiology, receiving an undergrad and Master's degree from Dalhousie University in my hometown of Halifax. I then moved to Ottawa for two years to work for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. It was during those two years that I decided to apply for medical school (lucky for me, I also met my wife).
I returned to Halifax to start my medical training. I graduated from Dalhousie Medical School (2011) and completed my residency training in Family Medicine at McMaster University (2013). After a brief locum in Trenton, Ontario we returned to Ottawa. After several months working at various walk-in clinics around the city I met the Rosemount Group and have been happy to begin establishing my family practice here.
I focus on preventive health care and working with people to establish and maintain healthy lifestyles.
